“So why do you go on this pilgrimage?”
“It’s because my favourite God is there!”
“Really, then what about the places of worship nearby?”
“They are there but my favourite God is there and since childhood I like going there”

Conversation 2
“So why are you going on this pilgrimage?”
“I am going to see God there”
“What do you mean you are going to see God there? Is not God everywhere?”
“Yes but this is special”
“So where do you see God?”
“Inside the sanctum”
“But that is an artist’s personal idea of God and how can that be God”
“That is God!”

Conversation 3
“It is the time to wake up God”
“Are you serious? You are going to see a ceremony to wake up God?”
“Yes, it is very special, they have songs and chants for this, it is a great experience”
“I would be very worried if God were to sleep, what will happen to the world at that time?”
“God is in control always”
“So why would God sleep?”

How little we know about God, how often we make God to suit our understanding, how often we try to fit God into our creations, the places of worship that we make pilgrimages to, we fight battles about, we break up relationships over.
We agree that:
-       God is everywhere
-       God is omnipotent
-       God loves his / her people (no conflict there!)
-       God is all powerful
-       God is in control
-       God is beyond human comprehension
-       God who rules the heavens and the earth cannot be confined to a simple earthly creation

And yet we do silly things…

This was a crude translation of a proverb that comedian Karunas (as pointed out by Chriz ) made famous in one movie. The Tamil original runs thus, “Kazhutha ketta, kutti suvaru” so you have the translation. I heard that line somewhere and I wondered especially having heard the translation as to what could have been the origin of the proverb. Any ideas? PS: I Googled it and did find something.

Silly Hindians, not knowing & not using are 2 different things. You don't know that many here know Hindi, you only know that we choose not to use Hindi, because it's our choice. Frankly it’s none of your business, what we wear or eat or speak. There is a lot of Hindi everywhere in Tamilnadu and often many are forced to use Hindi to communicate to the staff. If you observe closely there are many non native workers in Tamilnadu in the service industry. While many other states may have a welcoming attitude to people from other states who take up local jobs Tamilnadu has always welcomed them. Chennai or Madras has always been vaazha vaikkum Chennai, meaning it gives room for people to earn their bread in their chosen field. We still have Chinese dentists (the last few sadly) who don’t speak Mandarin here but Tamil to their patients in their clinics near Flower bazaar, Chennai. Battle of the movies - Annaathe Vs Jailer

  I watched Jailer yesterday and strangely my mind went back to Annaathe and I found that there are not too many dissimilarities in the two. For starters both are helmed by super star fan boys and who brought their adulation to the silver screen with varying levels of success. Secondly both movies can be clearly separated into two halves and both halves were significantly different. There are also few others I picked up so listing below my score card for the same.   1.       Title Both movies revolve around their titles and Annaathe was easier to understand, a local big man is called such and it is prevalent throughout the movie. In Jailer it comes to the fore only in a small and actually weak flash back. Annaathe – 1 Jailer – 0   2.      Family relationship bond Both movies were built on a family connect. Despite the cringe daughter age sister and the melodrama, the brother sister bonding was the high light of the first half. Strangely in the plan to show the super star
