Don't miss this... (A movie review)

Watched the Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu last night. I'm no movie reviewer, but judging by the full house and the audience response I can safely say that the movie is a winner like the actors in it.

Led by the reviews the family ended up at the theatre hoping to watch a good movie and we got our money's worth. Yes, they made Ghilli with Kabbadi as a sidekick to the movie with a superhero in the center stage, but this is a movie where the game is bigger than the characters in it, because simply we do not know the characters.

Go for the movie, if you won't miss one larger than life hero, one sexy heroine in designers, 5 songs, 3 fights, 1 disjointed comedy track and a screaming villain routine or a path breaking new movie. The funny part is you will find a villain(s), fight scenes, duets, the inevitable love story, a whole bunch of comedians and an almost predictable tried and tested formula, but they are not what we have seen before.

Kudos to the makers and the absolutely lovely cast who made it such a pleasant journey. The subtle messages and the mild humour are the toppings on a enjoyable dessert.

But as we left the theatre, mildly shaken by the unexpected climax, i couldn't help noticing the question on every one's lips - Why...?

Watch it, you may get the answer and if you find out the name of the heroine in the movie, do tell me, I don't think i got it.

This was a crude translation of a proverb that comedian Karunas (as pointed out by Chriz ) made famous in one movie. The Tamil original runs thus, “Kazhutha ketta, kutti suvaru” so you have the translation. I heard that line somewhere and I wondered especially having heard the translation as to what could have been the origin of the proverb. Any ideas? PS: I Googled it and did find something.

Silly Hindians, not knowing & not using are 2 different things. You don't know that many here know Hindi, you only know that we choose not to use Hindi, because it's our choice. Frankly it’s none of your business, what we wear or eat or speak. There is a lot of Hindi everywhere in Tamilnadu and often many are forced to use Hindi to communicate to the staff. If you observe closely there are many non native workers in Tamilnadu in the service industry. While many other states may have a welcoming attitude to people from other states who take up local jobs Tamilnadu has always welcomed them. Chennai or Madras has always been vaazha vaikkum Chennai, meaning it gives room for people to earn their bread in their chosen field. Battle of the movies - Annaathe Vs Jailer

  I watched Jailer yesterday and strangely my mind went back to Annaathe and I found that there are not too many dissimilarities in the two. For starters both are helmed by super star fan boys and who brought their adulation to the silver screen with varying levels of success. Secondly both movies can be clearly separated into two halves and both halves were significantly different. There are also few others I picked up so listing below my score card for the same.   1.       Title Both movies revolve around their titles and Annaathe was easier to understand, a local big man is called such and it is prevalent throughout the movie. In Jailer it comes to the fore only in a small and actually weak flash back. Annaathe – 1 Jailer – 0   2.      Family relationship bond Both movies were built on a family connect.
